Dr. Jan Adams has identified himself as the surgeon who operated on Kanye West’s mother Donda, who authorities believe later died from surgery complications. Dr. Adams told TMZ he “did nothing wrong” while performing a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Dondra and that her death was unforeseen and could have been caused by a heart attack, pulmonary embolism or massive vomiting.
TMZ has claims that Dr. Adams has a checkered history. According to TMZ, he was convicted of DUIs in 1994, 2003 and 2006 and the Board of California filed legal papers last April asking to revoke or suspend his medical license. TMZ also uncovered two malpractice judgments against Dr. Adams from 2001.
The doctor, who made a guest appearance on Oprah in 2003 and was the host of Discovery Channel’s Plastic Surgery: Before and After, is a well known plastic surgeon. He also co-hosted NBC’s short-lived male version of The View, called The Other Half.
Dr. Adams, who is not Board Certified with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, told TMZ that he met with Kanye’s mom over a period of four months. Donda allegedly changed her mind numerous times about the surgery.
